From the Desk of Jim Douglas

July 26, 2010

The great weather continues, one of our driest summer months in years, sunny, warm, and clear, with cool evenings to keep everything fresh. Simply love the weather at this time of year in the Mountains. Mornings are especially pleasant, 6am at any of our local lakes are just spectacular, and the picture of Whistler Mountain, still fresh with snow, as the sun is just coming up. The two pictures in sequence is the sun just peaking up, while already splashing amazing colors on Whistler Mountain.

Busy weekend in the Resort, the driving range re-opened after its conversion back after the Olympic Games temporary use for additional parking.

This past weekend, we enjoyed a spectacular day on the links with special guests from the Okanagan, with a little fishing mixed in, and a picnic on the water. While we fished Alta Lake the amount and various uses of the lake was astounding. A few fishers, paddle board fun, rowers with their amazing sleek boats, swimmers as well as Alta Lake is very popular with Residents and visitors alike who train for Triathlons etc, followed by the many wind boards, and small sailboats who always take to the water with the consistent Southern breeze come mid-day. We did catch another beauty this weekend, 24 inches of fighting cutthroat trout, apologies as the picture was lost……I know, but it is not a fishing tale. You can view a regular fishing report update on http://www.whistlerflyfishing.com/newsletter.cfm?newsletter=8 which is compiled by Brian Niska and the team at Whistler Flyfishing, a great little shop with quality gear, local fly selections, guiding services, and great tips for you to enjoy your day on the water.

Well that’s it for the week; now that summer has arrived we will endeavor to get some info regularly to our Blog, and if our writers have any questions, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Best regards,

Jim Douglas
